Massive Volumes of Waste Baled inside the Warehouse
The Panalpina Group is one of the world’s leading suppliers of forwarding and logistics services, specializing in end-to-end supply chain management solutions and intercontinental air freight and ocean freight shipments across the globe. Their factory is located in Dubai Word Central Dubai.
Panalpina generates massive amounts of packaging waste which consists of cardboard and plastic on daily basis. The internal logistics for handling the waste was very problematic because it occupied a large amount of warehouse floorspace. There was no accountability on waste and It was also using manpower, time and energy in frequent outside trips to carry waste outside the warehouse.
The results
Mil-tek installed a 306HD baler for cardboard and a small-footprint 102 baler for plastic inside the warehouse. Now, all of the cardboard and plastic waste is baled at the point of generation, saving lot of manpower, space, time and energy.
The waste handling has become very easy and efficient. It is now possible to keep the waste area cleaner and tidier. A “waste recycling point” has been established where all bales are stored on pallets and then sold to a recycler at market rate.
